Ford’s new marketing campaign for the 2011 Super Duty promises one thing – it will get your attention. Modeled after the ad campaign for the redesigned F-150, the campaign for the Super Duty will target the core truck buyer but also attempt to appeal to those on the fence.
Ford has spent a combined total of $1.2 billion at it’s plants in Avon Lake, Ohio and Kansas City as it prepares to revamp it’s truck production and bring a large amount of jobs back to the US. Part of this new plan also includes a new four year deal just signed with the UAW.
You’ve read about Ford turning out custom body graphics for their Transit Connect platform, well apparently it has been such a hit they’ve decided to do the same for F-150 owners. If you look at the Ford Custom Graphics site you see that they’ve already working on overlays for the Flex, Super Duty, Fiesta, Mustang and many more.
In an attempt to offer some cost savings to its customers, Ford is planning on offering a V10 for its F-650 line of trucks for 2012. The thought behind this is to offer initial up front savings at the time of purchase during these budget conscious times.
The economy is still a wreck and the unemployment rate is still hovering around 9% but despite all of that the automotive industry seems to be making gradual gains with trucks and SUVs leading the way for most auto makers. John Humphrey, senior vice president of global automotive operations at J.D. Power and Associates was quoted as saying: “The improving performance of the past three months suggests that the current momentum, primarily driven by replacement demand and improvements in vehicle availability, is not an aberration.”
Is it just me, or has there been a large number of recalls this year? Next up on the recall list is the 2011 Ford F-150 and 2012 F-250 through F-550. The issue at hand is a problem with the brake shift interlock switch.
